(As part of Triennale Brugge 2024) With Rebel Garden, Musea Brugge commits to a rebellious, urgent art exhibition that examines the relationship between man and nature. The central theme is The Garden but issues such as the consequences of global warming, the sixth mass extinction, climate activism, the relationship between the artist and the garden, ... are addressed. For five months, and this both in the Groeninge Museum, the Gruuthuse Museum and the attic of the renovated St John's Hospital Museum, visitors are invited to reflect on the future of our planet.

The Procession of the Holy Blood has passed through the historic centre of Bruges every year on Our Lady's Assumption since the late 13th century. Over 1,800 participants sing, make music, dance and act, bringing Biblical stories to life. The style of the procession recalls the Burgundian era when guilds, crafts, brotherhoods and chambers of rhetoric were responsible for the interpretation of the scenes.

On Sunday 25 August, the 14th edition of the Golden Tree Procession will take place. This is a medieval procession that tells a story about Bruges and the historical county of Flanders. The procession is based on the festivities surrounding the marriage of Margaret of York and Charles the Bold in 1468, the most spectacular wedding that ever took place in Bruges: from banquets with rare foods to wealthy delegations from all corners of Europe to the 'Arms Pass of the Golden Tree'.

Peeking inside some monuments that usually keep their doors closed is a unique opportunity during Open Monuments Weekend on Sept. 7 and 8. This year's theme "En route!" puts the focus on (cultural) itineraries, networking and connections. Visiting most monuments is free. Some monuments/activities require reservations!

During the darkest period of the year, Winter Glow traditionally brings atmosphere to Bruges' city centre, each time in a 'slightly' different format. Fixed ingredients are the abundance of twinkling lights, the Christmas markets, the ice skating rink in artificial ice and the cosy winter bar as well as a real light trail. It promises to be another heart-warming winter festival.

'De Warmste Week' is a solidarity campaign, organised annually by belgian radio stations in the week before Christmas, from 18 to 24 December. This year, we are flaming for the central theme 'growing up without worries'.
